as a Mother’s day and an advanced Father’s Day present, i bought tix for them and me 😉 to the P Ramlee Muzikal held at the Esplanade Theatre. it was a beautiful performance altogether. well, for a first timer, ever been in a theatrical performance, it sure gives a whole lot of impression and awe. i pretty much enjoyed the musical, the dances and songs especially when P Ramlee’s song was performed. (and Thank God it’s not Sean Ghazi nor Datuk ct among the cast!!) Liza Hanim is such a dear, and the guy playing P Ramlee, Musly Ramlee, he’s honest and the sincerity in bringing P Ramlee’s character is applaudable, its the same as how you watch…say, Bujang Lapok films, at some points i feel like Musly is not Musly, but The P Ramlee, you get what i mean?? pardon if you can’t. honestly, i can’t quite describe the awesomeness.
and now…i’ve been listening to P Ramlee’s songs these few days. ahakzz.
even though i had to fight my inner ‘responsible’ part of me and go to another concert…i don’t regret it though. it’s just the thought….of making my parents happy. and getting to watch one great art production.

and last vesak day, despite the heat, went out to meet the girls at the Terminal 3 Changi Airport. some pics to show tell.
yes, it’s actually to celebrate Za’s birthday… Happy Birthday Za!! we all used to have EXPECTED birthday surprises back in IIUM, wah liao, missed those times when the clock strikes 12, there’s sure to be a knock on the door, the girls and a cake waiting for the birthday girl!
but now, except for Za, all of us are back in SG, so can’t expect to be having surprises now. there’ll be a hundred reasons why one of us can’t join, and then there’ll be the totally unexpected missed out names on the list (even though we’ve always tried our best to ‘publicize’ the outing), and then there’ll be a hundred reasons why one of us can’t join…oh..i’ve said that already…and then there’ll be the laughters and talks, the heartbreaks and feelings hurts. (tu ah, mak cakap jangan banyak ketawa, nanti nangis..)
ok ok am being ultra sarcastic. it’s the heat and the fever am having now. i keep getting sick this year~ i’m not thinking well. i just had sh*7^/y chats and i’m being sh*7^/y. . and the net and imeem is sh*7^/y.
(can you see that?? the change of emotions i had in a span of minutes?) i want to go back to my sh*7^/y reading of Through a Glass, Darkly, which at this point, i regretted reading, because as of this moment, i think it’s a lame attempt of understanding humans and angels (well, their version of angels and God even). aarrggh…baca buku lain ah!!
i got the opportunity to attend Dr Jeffery Lang’s talk on the attributes of One God at Darul. well, am not one who’s good in..you know….relating a talk by someone in those much academic and critical way, giving views on issues such as one you may find in contemporarycaliph.com, i mean this guy is good!
but anyway, something which really sticks to mind was the understanding of God’s Attributes, all these beautiful names, which for most of us, already learnt them by heart. we sometimes failed to embrace them. we have not grown into, or, with these attributes. we took them for granted, when to know God, is to know through His names and attributes, but we forget, these are the very attributes nurtured in us. it’s just that we don’t realise that. we need someone to knock us on the head to realise it.
plain truth : it’s all from the heart. i need to remind myself of this. and hopefully with this self-reminding “from the heart” “from the heart” i hope i will be more ikhlas, and holistic and embracing of what i do and say.
and then, i attended a gathering for youth workers, my very first. i felt out of place, since i’m like not a youth leader or ydo, or volunteering for some organizations, and my only contact with teens are my students…but maybe Lord has directed me attend the gathering.
it’s shocking to find out certain news, and it’s more shocking to know we still need a lot more to help those people out there. and i am beginning to realise, there’s just so little of us, willing to take up the tasks, and so many to do for so many people. Lord, give us the strength. i ended up thinking..”what are we doing???!!!”
but for all out there who have been serving and committing their time and energy and brain and everything that they can possibly contribute to help…i’m truly amazed at these people. unsung heroes.

ayat-ayat cinta is such a endearing movie, that despite coming in to the theatre 30 minutes LATE, no prior knowledge whatsoever of the whole plan, but it managed to capture my heart and mind….and some unexpected tears. hahaha
such an impact that we totally DO NOT REGRET it. simply love it.

oh by the way, to a mr/ms Loco, thanks for the short description of Helven. whatever it’s actually referring to. you’re trying to say Helven, the Anugerah band, plays latin classical song with a touch of goth, dark, heavy music? just don’t bring the ‘culture’ in. would be interesting if they do write songs of such style in Malay. wonder how it sounds. wonder what the message will be… interesting.
wah liao ah!! listening to the songs of the finalists for Alunan Kasih!! some of the songs truly caught my attention seh!! but honestly, all are definitely good. in terms of lyrics ah. and music as well.
too bad we can only vote once. but it’s good in a way,or else, i would have voted for all!! hahaha.

and i realise how ridiculous the names of the bands can be?? ada apa dengan nama?
ok, for a band, i know how important it is to have a bandname which somehow reflects your band’s music style, your band’s identity, personality, fashion even. the name of the band is so important, because it will definitely means YOU, YOU and YOU who are THE BAND. other than the music you play, your bandname becomes part of you.
and when you have name for the band, you will start to rationalise and give reasons as to why you give such names, for a lame example, Linkin Park had a hard time choosing a name because they think they are unique, bringing different kind of music than other metal-rock-whatever-they-call-it bands. so starting from Lincoln Park, they settled for Linkin Park, and then they start to reason out why Linkin Park is chosen.
or why sheila on 7? or why my chemical romance? or why U2?? there always have to have a reason out of a name…oh,don’t forget the official FONT and LOGO of the band~
so, i started to think, how ridiculous some bandnames of anugerah can be?? like TRABO= berterabur? SILKSUTRA= yeah they can’t make up their mind whether to use english or malay for the name?? (SUTRA already sounds nice enough, to me)and some time along the way, ended up being called siCksutra… edmyshta? edmusyhta? or something? why suddenly want to go JAPANish?? might as well, take the name Sadako, right?? or Sudoku? there’s also KEIGO SPHINX? now they cannot decide whether they want to go Japanese/Korean(?), or Egyptian?
PUTRA is nicest name so far, simple and easy to remember, CUCU DATUK MERAH…hmm ok laaa. ha, yeah, HELVEN?? now, they cannot decide whether to go with Hell or Heaven? baina baina? heaven kan baik?! but then maybe they realise their songs are not that heavenly, so to say~ then ada RANCOUR la, ROYALE la..(royal je kan bole~)
but nothing beats old KALEIDOSCOPICURIOSITY. (like the worst name? and where are they now?)
you guys are so CONFUSED.
there’s a few other names which are just downright ridiculous. and i think i’m going to get it somewhere somehow, some fans are going to maki my blog. honestly, i love music, i love hearing good music by good bands, but come on la, you sound too attention-seeking with these kinds of names. you want people to listen to your song, so be honest about it, these names sound fake.
and the judge eh~ please ah, don’t have to give all these pseudo-suspense kind of remarks when you want to kick a band out, because its sickeningly misleading. it doesn’t work like those in american idols. you came out as downright sarcastic. please ah, we don’t want a simon cowell wannabe. we just want a judge who knows the industry very well (because for all you know, these are bands who have been singing all their life UNDERGROUND, and they might know BETTER about the scene than you could ever be), give constructive comments which at the end of the day, even if a band lose out, they go back learning something useful, which they can apply for other pursuits, and teach the audience as well.
but putting aside all these, let’s have one good quality band, who have a vision and mission to bring out to the world, as a team. sing good songs, play good music (not just NOISE, mind you). and have good personality as well, attitude…because you guys are going to BE role models. music have been THE very thing which teens IDENTIFY themselves with. so please, now even if you are going to play metal songs, rock, alternative, punk, ska, emo, rap, whatever it is, do please portray a good personality as well.
let YOU define the music, not the Music shaping who you are.
