brown-ie

Went back for the weekend, a decision I made impromptu. I did not plan to return Singapore, because I thought I had to attend the Global Peace Forum all three days, but I was informed later that I’m not obliged to attend the next two-days’ programme, and since my parents did urge me to come back, so it’s perfect and I was decided.

Bought a few things for the new semester, like a new bag and sandals and etc.. what I noticed later was I had chose brown-coloured items! Most of the things I bought are in brown~

No matter, what’s important was I got to go out with my family. It’s been sometime since we got to have fun together. Seeing the smiles of Ratu and Romo, and my sisters jokes and laughters. All three of us walking side by side, hmmmm, so like the Charmed sisters. hehe. Miss them all already!!

VIPs

I’ve met some cool and great people during the past days and I’m still glowing from it!! What a great way to start the semester!! hehehe

First and foremost, met face to face with my old hero!! Datuk Jins Shamsudin!! My Dandan Setia!! I still could not believe that I stood in front of him, right there, just an arm’s length apart. And I forgot the world for a moment when I saw him. Still handsome with those wrinkles on his forehead. Still standing tall. I’m still dreaming of it. Ok how I got to meet him?? It’s fated. ;P
The university’s havingthis event named IPAC’05 (do I need to elaborate more? kind of lazy to explain) But anyways, all the mahallahs were invited to join this some kind of a competition. And my mahallah, with all the orange spirit went to that competition only to find out that we were the only ones who came!!! No other mahallahs sent not even one representatives. So we won without having to compete in anything. Nice luck!! Good for us. Therefore, we had to attend a great event that same night for the price giving. Me, on the other hand, went to a meeting. And just on time reached CAC Hall, a some kind of a concert going on, and who do I saw the moment I stepped into the hall, but my Dandan Setia! So when they were announcing the winners for that afternoon’s competition, I willingly and excitedly volunteered to go onstage to take the prize!! No other but Dandan Setia who’ll be giving them away!! So I was onstage, smiling at Dandan Setia, and I actually forgot that there’s a few hundred people watching me up there with Datuk Jins. What a chance of a lifetime!!! I will never forget that handsome smile.

Another encounter is getting to see Tun Dr Mahathir giving a speech live!!! I’m watching a historical almost a legend figure live onstage, not on tv screen, but him himself and I am truly awed by this brave man. Truly awed. I went to Global Peace Forum 2005 at the PWTC, KL, with more other IIUM students. The forum really opened up my eyes and I’m more aware of what is really going on in this world. What is hidden actually, from the public eye. It’s another one of a lifetime chance. I saw all these very important people from different countries, especially those from the western countries. Dr. George Gallowae, Dr Helen Caldecott, Dr Chandra Muzaffar, Francis Boyle and many others and even a German down to earth Prince. I’m fascinated with their ideas. To stop war and promote peace regardless of ends. And Tun gave the most true speech. More at the global peace site. Check it out.

And the seemingly energetic me….after a whole day at the forum, later that night went to another IPAC event with my friends!! And this time, it’s Ramli Sarip! Singapore’s Rock Guru. Me and the girls had so much fun and I think we were the most happening group of people in that whole hall!!! It doesn’t matter what other people said about us, they don’t know us and we did not disturb them (well maybe they got irritated with our shouts and applauses and whatnots), we’re just having some rare fun and it’s only for the night. And Ramli Sarip is a true rocker. There’s some amateur bands performed live that night, their music was good but no words came out of their vocalists’ mouth!! I don’t know whether it’s the mic or whether they really can’t sing. But when Ramli Sarip came out and his voice just when boom!! in the hall. He spoke so clearly and his singing was sssoooo there!! We were stunned. Now we’re actually quiet and just listening to him sang. Oh yeah!! He played his guitar! And the strings striked to my heart straight to the chord (core, actually)!!

I had so much fun within 2 days and so much experience and knowledge. I’m happy the semester started well and I hope many other happy things for the rest of the semester and new year.

Q-box

Again, collective events and added to my blog only after a few days later~
Well…this happens last 2 saturdays…10th december, i guess? I can’t remember the date even! I followed the girls to Times Square with the initial plan of watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I was excited about it, getting to watch that movie at last!! So we went and what do we know, but met another singaporean group, all guys and a girl (ours were all girls and a guy) already in queue to buy the tickets. Looking at the tv screen for the movies of the day…jeng3, Harry Potter’s next screening was at 10 pm!!! and we’re already there at 2!!
The alternative was to see The Chronicles of Narnia.~ at 6. 3 more hours to go!
No matter, we prayed Zohr and had lunch and the most unexpected thing to do! There was this compartment small rooms for Karaoke-ing called Q-box. I never know it exist. And the girls were excited to try, there are 6 of us in a room fit for four, but who cares! We tried 3 songs =RM3 – A malay ska song (can’t remember the title), Peter pan’s song!!! -Mungkin nanti (gee we couldn’t sing that deep voiced song but..who cares!) and the best of all, Cranberries’ Zombie!! (too bad no Cranberries in the vid, rather some greenery documentary-like vid showing lakes and nothings, SpoILer!) We had tremendous fun just letting out, and it’s all only us girls.

When all songs done, we went out, and looking at the next room, a irony ‘picture’! A guy having his hand over his girl’s shoulder and singing to, oh my god, an Islamic nasyid song!! I mean, what was that all about?? :/

Then we saw a capoeira performance, and as usual, we were quite loud applausing the performances and sang along to the capoeira song. It was for the global peace forum.

And at last the much anticipated movie event of the day!! We watched Narnia and guess what, we got the second row from the front!!! We now know that cinemas in KL have their seating rows arranged with the A seats at the very back. Unlike in Singapore, we have the A rows at the front!! I personally felt cheated, because…NOW I KNOW~ But Narnia did not disappoint us! It was a cool movie, the fantasy movie with the likes of lord of the rings, so I love it!!!

It’s a great day after all, for a start of the semester, well, we had fun while we still can, the later days of the semester will be very busy and oh yeah, financially disabled.

Thank you girls for the sweet memorable day.
Shoutouts to : Shasha, K. Dewi, Aisyah Spec, Aili, Ilham and Za and not forgetting darwis, for the willingness to go with the girls —>yeah2, that’s for shasha ; )

collective

The problem with not having an internet connection back home is the not updating my blog when there’s alot of things happening in my life…and i ended up having to wait for some fine day to go to Netforcegames and spent around 2hours and paid $4 for that and not able to add anything in my blog because i spent the hours playing online games with brother or with whoever’s willing to join my need for speed races.

And now that I’m back in IIUM, still with my blog un-updated on the happenings during the semester break, like the jalan raya with the girls, welcoming the new studs @students, watching the movies and meeting dyan and mahir. But no matter…there’ll be some day that I can add something on these…because the start of the semester, only the first week, and my schedule’s full with meetings. ASSIIUM’s prog next wednesday – need to do the minute meetings and some leaflets that i have to design. MRC’s big event, the inter mahallah cultural week, and my mahallah is in charge of the sub-programme which is the inter-cultural performance. And oh yeah we had a meeting at 9 am, for God’s sake!!

The most important things that needed to be highlighted is my last semester’s final exams. The fact that I actually delayed myself in checking out the results because I had no net connection and honestly scared and nervous to check them out, you know, because i spent more time with programmes and suchs. So first thing I did on Monday, after adjusting my time-table was to check out my results. I was squeezing my eyes shut while the page was loading and when I opened my eyes, I had the biggest shock!! I actually did very well in my exams! It was really unexpected, seriously. Managed to get an A, 3 A-s and the rest are B/ B+ / B-. It was good enough for me, considering I was expecting to see not a single A in my result slip. 3 A-s is a bonus. I managed to prove to myself that I can still get good grades even though I was busy with so many other things to do, that I had not slackened in my studies. NOT AT ALL. Take that, to those people who found excuses in their studies and tests and assignments for not helping out or not joining the progs that some of the singaporeans committed so heart -and- soully. OK, I’m being too emotional about this. Enough said. Alhamdulillah, I am happy and truly satisfied with the grades. Especially with Social Change and Comparative subjects. Truly happy with them. Thank you Lord.

Finch

Listening to Finch- Letters to you. Gee, miss them so much!! Wonder when’s the next album? What have the days been like?? A lot of things. For one, have been going out with the girls, jalan raya! Best ah, thank god for Kak Mizah and her van. She’s been driving us around.

-to be continued

Syawal month

It’s already the 9th day of Syawal. And I just got this opportunity to go online. Been busy yes and at the same time, no online connection at home, TOO BAD. I can’t live without the net!!

A recap of what had happened in my life for the past week…Went back home on the 1st of November. My last paper on that day – Creative Thinking and surprisingly easy, Alhamdulillah. I actually finished it earlier and went out 30 minutes before the exam ends.. One of the papers that I hoped I get good grades for. So a day before Raya I reached home and I was hyped to go to Geylang Bazaar, but disappointed because my mother was working…and instant no go. Bazaar’s last year at geylang but hmmm, heck.

And first day of raya, had a surprise visit from PETER PAN!!!! Haha yeah right!! Nnaahh, actually we have new neighbours next door, 4 Indonesian guys who will be studying- working here for 6 months. They’re on attachment or something. Young and cute, reminds me of Indo actors. Seriously! And what’s almost embarassing was when i came out from my room and immediately mother introduced me, and all 3 pairs of eyes on me…I mean wwoohhh.(3 out of 4 of the guys came) and one of them was like actually giving this some kind of a look and keep asking questions about me. Flattered? yeah of course!! He’s cute. Hah, our own Peter pan next door~

Soca change paper

My first paper…in English. Two previous papers were in Arab and I did not put high hopes on either and today’s Social Change and Development paper, in the language that I feel I can express better but still…I’m kind of disappointed with myself. Wallahua’lam how I answered the questions and I think I’m just babbling nothing on the paper. I’m hoping for the generosity of the lecturer. I don’t know what is happening to my academic progress this semester. Had been too busy with IRKHS Soc and MRC and ASSIIUM, too busy with those. I’m beginning to resent ever being associated with these. Then again, I love my progs. It’s just that it’s affecting my studies worst than I had expected. 4 more papers to go, and life have to move on since I can’t turn back time to the start of the semester. Hope for a better one next semester.
